DWIH SF @ American Chemical Society
Last week, DWIH San Francisco had a shared stand with the German Research Foundation (DFG) and participated at the 2023 American Chemical Society Fall Meeting in San Francisco. Nearly 15,000 people from all over the world registered for the conference.
Representing Research in Germany, Zahar Barth-Manzoori from the German Center for Research and Innovation (DWIH) San Francisco and Hanni Geist from German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) took part in the annual ACS meeting to promote the German research landscape, careers and funding opportunities for scientists. This conference brought together people from academia and in industry with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Among the wide array of events at ACS Fall 2023 were presentations on chemistry and artificial intelligence. Some trends we noticed were the heavy emphasis on quantum computing and data compression in chemistry, how AI can accelerate chemical discovery, and the expanding role of machine learning in chemistry.
On Wednesday, August 16th, we invited more than 50 conference attendees and friends of the DWIH to the German Hub for a pizza, beer, and live music reception featuring a local artist, Cinnamon Hepburn. It was a terrific evening!
