Six Questions for Dr. Vishnu Sunil
We had the pleasure of interviewing Vishnu Sunil, Ph.D., one of our Falling Walls Lab 2022 winners. Dr. Sunil is a scientist and bioentrepreneur developing life-saving technologies and ways to deliver these innovations with an aim to democratize healthcare. Dr. Sunil has a PhD in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from the National University of Singapore. He has been awarded several fellowships and grants for his work in the field of biomaterials. Outside of the lab, Dr. Sunil works with regulatory agencies, health ministries, and MedTech companies across the world in shaping and influencing policymaking around equitable access to new technologies and medicines.

On February 1st, the German Center for Research and Innovation (DWIH) San Francisco, Lehigh University, University Alliance Ruhr, and the Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Center held the first in-person event of 2023. This event, titled “Advancing Entrepreneurship & Innovation” facilitated conversation with key stakeholders from government, academia, and industry to shed light on opportunities and best-practices for advancing entrepreneurship and innovation. Germany Today
DAAD invites representatives from universities, research institutions and funding agencies in the United States and Canada, as well as colleagues from the fields of education policy and politics, to join us for our “Germany Today 2023” information tour. The tour includes on-site visits to a variety of higher education institutions, research institutions, and companies in Bielefeld, the Ruhr Valley, Aachen, Düsseldorf, Cologne and Bonn.

Women & Entrepreneurship
On January 25, we hosted our second transatlantic higher education-based accelerator matchmaking event between the U.S. West Coast and Germany in a virtual format. With a total of thirty-eight attendees, the event was a success. It featured Anne Cocquyt, founder of THE GUILD and author of Dare to Launch, who discussed the barriers women face in pursuing their ventures – from seeking mentors to raising capital — and how higher-education-based accelerators can better support female entrepreneurship. Participants learned about how to take action steps to ensure that women are equally represented and supported. They were also offered a worksheet and follow-up consultation sessions from Anne.
