CITRIS Climate Innovation Intensive
DWIH San Francisco is excited to sponsor a five-day program for German students and early-stage researchers interested in turning their research projects into startups. We are partnering with CITRIS and the Banatao Institute to support the participation of up to eight German students in the Fall 2024 cohort to the Innovation Intensive. Participants will spend five days learning about cutting-edge research and startups based at the Center for Information Technology Research in the Interest of Society (CITRIS) at four University of California campuses.

Who can apply?
Student or researchers with a focus on climate. The participant must have a Bachelor’s degree at minimum and have an affiliation with a German university or German research institution (Universität, Fachhochschule – FH, or Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften – HAW or staatliche Forschungseinrichtung). The participant does not have to have German citizenship.

- CITRIS Tech Museum, the Bakar BioIngenuity Hub, and networking with UC climate tech startups
Day 2: UC Merced
- Ag-Food-Tech and satellite data
- Experimental Smart Farms visit
- Labor and AI/Automation in California Agriculture, electrification of agricultural equipment, climate initiatives in food production and processing, & secure water future
Day 3: UC Davis
- UC Davis Climate Adaptation Research Center (CARC)
- Wildfires detection and response
- UC Davis planned zero net energy neighborhood, Institute for Next Generation Food Systems & Climate Action Acceleration, Drones & Environmental Robotics Lab
Day 4: UC Santa Cruz
- Coastal Climate Resilence, renewable energy, and generating hydrogen energy from seawater
- Serious Games for climate education and Digital Twins
- Drone demo for Agtech/climate and Human-drone-robot teaming for wildfire detection, Greener Greenhouses; Climate-Smart Mini-Farms & Urban Gardens
