New Partnership Between DWIH San Francisco and BSI

The DWIH San Francisco is delighted to announce that the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), an agency of the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI), has joined our network of supporters. We held a ceremony on Friday, September 8th at the residence of the German Consul General Oliver Schramm to mark the start of many fruitful years of cooperation in the Bay Area.
In a joint pilot project, BSI will work with the Agentur für Innovation in der Cybersicherheit GmbH (German Cyber Agency) to conduct a study of the startup ecosystem in the Bay Area on specific technology assessments in the area of cybersecurity. As the central coordinator for research projects in the field of cybersecurity, BSI actively supports the German Government to implement the German cybersecurity agenda.
The DWIH’s goal is to promote German science and innovation in the West Coast. The German Cyber Agency focuses its application strategy-related and interdepartmental view on domestic and external security in the field of cyber security. The cooperation between BMI, BSI, DWIH and the German Cyber Agency increases the visibility of German innovators and effectively shares existing knowledge through networking and cooperation.
According to BSI President Claudia Plattner, “Cooperation between research institutions, the industry and public sector actors enables the secure exploitation of opportunities arising from disruptive developments such as generative AI. Through this cooperation, research and innovation can be leveraged well-directed and tightly focused. Together, we enable the development and market access of cybersecurity-focused products and services – even across the Atlantic.”
